2023 Goals: wrap up (95.45%)
This article is a wrap up of my 2023 journey to fulfill my New Year’s Resolution. If you want to know more about it take a look at my 2023 Goals list.
2023 is gone and the year window to push yourself has closed!
I’m super happy with the results even though I "failed" to complete the objective.
95.45% is the final progress and it is super close to 100% which per se is already a big win! But I'm also happy because this is the very first time that I was able to commit, track and complete my New Year’s Resolution.
In past years I did like 94% of the people and dropped the challenge during the year. According to a recent study from Forbes only 6% of the people stick with the New Year's resolution until December 31.

I’m also thrilled because not only did I hit 100% in some goals but I went beyond the target by 50% in at least 4 goals out of 7.
You might be thinking that I set too low a target… well it is possible but keep in mind that I’m a husband, father of two (3 and 22 years old) and I work in a global operation.
December progress
Analyzing December's numbers I can see that my monthly progress was 12.92% way more than the perfect world which is 8.33%. I also conquered another 10.40% in progress beyond 100%.
Despite the good progress I dropped the ball in the least priority goal "Travel with family to 3 Brazilian cities". Agenda conflicts and money being redirected to the most priority goal made that happen. No regrets!

Lessons learned
This was by far one of the most challenging years in my life. Not only because I challenge myself but also because the changes that the company that I work for is undergoing.
Nonetheless I'm super happy with my results. I can attribute this good outcome to a few things:
- My commitment to make this happen this time;
- Use of the S.M.A.R.T. framework to defined my goals;
- Being able to measure the goal was key to see progress;
- Progress is motivation;
One last thing that I would like to mention is that part of my motivation this year came from an enjoyable process of building something new.
Everything started in May when I realized that the service (Goalify) that I was using to measure progress had some gaps. After looking for alternatives (again) I decided to build my own.
And from this decision I created https://www.37goals.com which is a service that helps you to define, track and achieve personal goals using IA, data-driven analyses and chatbots.
The screenshots that I'm sharing here on Medium were taken from my own account.
If you are also a data-driven person like me and liked the way that I organize and track my goals, please give a try on the 37 Goals!
All feedback is welcome!
